  • As a senior in 2007, he was selected to the All-Mountain West Conference first team as well Academic All-MWC.
  • During his senior season, he was team captain started all 13 games at weakside linebacker.
  • In his senior season the BYU defense was ranked 10th in the nation in total defense (307.85 ypg), ninth in scoring defense (18.54 ppg), and ninth in rush defense (97.46 ypg).
  • In his last season, he was second on the team with a career-high 91 tackles (52 solo) and also had four sacks, 11.5 tackles for losses, one quarterback pressure, a forced fumble and recovery, four pass deflections, and one interception for a touchdown.
  • As a junior in 2006 he earned Academic All-MWC and All-MWC honorable mention.
  • He started all 13 games as a junior and ranked third on the team in tackles with 70 (35 solo). He added three sacks, eight tackles for losses, one quarterback pressure, one fumble recovery, and six deflected passes.
  • During his junior year, BYU was 10th in the nation in scoring defense (14.7 ppg).

Personal:

  • Attended Brighton High School (Salt Lake City, Utah).
  • Earned Salt Lake Tribune and Deseret News first-team All-State honors as a senior.
  • Also made Academic All-State with a 4.0 GPA.
  • He is a three year letter winner, and led his team to an 11-1 record and a Region II championship as a senior, which garnered him team Most Valuable Player accolades and the Region II MVP.
  • He earned second-team All-Region as a junior.
  • Did not play football in 2003 or 2004 while serving on a two-year church missions to Toronto, Canada.
  • Brother, Ed, was a defensive end at BYU (1993-98) and played for the Tom Coughlin with the Jacksonville Jaguars in 1999. Brother, Brandon, was a defensive back at BYU (1997-1998).
