The Washington Redskins announced today that they have claimed center J.D. Walton off waivers.

In addition, the team waived wide receiver Lance Lewis.

Walton (6-3, 305) was originally drafted by the Denver Broncos in the third round (80th overall) of the 2010 NFL Draft.

He has spent his first four NFL seasons in Denver, starting all 32 regular season games for the Broncos from 2010-11 and starting the first four games of the 2012 season before being placed on the team’s Reserve/Injured list.

Walton spent the first nine weeks of the 2013 season on the Broncos’ Physically Unable to Perform list before being activated on Nov. 5.

He was waived by the Broncos on Tuesday.

Walton started all 16 games as a rookie in 2010, becoming the fifth offensive lineman and only center in Broncos history to do so.

He played every snap for the Broncos in 2011 and helped the team lead the NFL with a franchise-record 2,632 rushing yards.

Walton played collegiately at Baylor from 2007-09, starting all 36 games played in three seasons and becoming the school’s first non-specialist in 18 seasons to earn first-team All-American honors.

Walton, 26, attended Allen (Texas) H.S., where he was a first-team All-District 9-5A and all-county selection as a senior.

Justin Daniel Walton was born on March 24, 1987, in Lawton, Okla.

Lewis (6-2, 207) spent the first 11 weeks of the 2013 season on Washington’s practice squad before being signed to the active roster on Nov. 21.
