Hall Looking For A Team-Win In Chicago

Posted Aug 17, 2012

DeAngelo Hall had a career day the last time he played at Soldier Field. But when he steps out of the tunnel on Saturday, he's looking for a good team performance.

The last time the Redskins faced the Chicago Bears was during regular season in 2010, and cornerback DeAngelo Hall was the star of the show.

Hall solidified his Pro Bowl status that afternoon, picking off Bears quarterback Jay Cutler four times, tying an NFL record for a single game.  He also returned one of the kicks for the game-winning touchdown.

This time around, Hall said he isn’t concerned with individual accolades or accomplishments—he just wants to see his team get better.

“We have a lot of things we need to work on individually, collectively as a group, and were going to try and work on those things,” Hall said this week. “We started out good in Buffalo, so we’re going to try to, at the end of the day, leave it up to our young guys to try to get a win out in Chicago.”

As for the rookie quarterback Robert Griffin III, Hall said the defense want to see more opportunity for the young playmaker to throw the football.

“We’re just waiting for the playbook to open up a little bit more,” he said with a grin.  “I’m excited to see him out there. I’m always waiting for him to drop back, so he can make something happen.”

Even though the score means nothing in a preseason game, Hall is confident that the team will maintain a winning mentality in preparation for Week 1 against New Orleans.

“At the end of the day, this is a business and we want to win at all cost no matter if it’s preseason or regular season,” Hall said, “We know it doesn’t mean much, but we haven’t won a lot of games over the last couple of years.

“We want to start building those habits, and what a better way to do it than in the preseason.”

With so much talent in the NFL, the difference between winning and losing can be slim.  Hall predicted that he would see a winner during his time in Washington, and suggested it could be soon.

“I think we’ve just been missing a couple pieces back in the last couple of years,” Hall said, “Now I think we’re more complete.”
