Chesney-McGraw Kick Off Summer Tour

Posted Jun 5, 2012

Kenny Chesney and Tim McGraw kicked off their "Brother of the Sun" tour, set to appear at FedExField on Aug. 12th.

Last Saturday night, Kenny Chesney and Tim McGraw kicked off their "Brothers of the Sun" tour in Tampa Bay, Fla.

It was the first time in a decade that the two country superstars appeared on the same stage together, and was the start of a 20-stadium tour that includes a stop at FedExField on Aug. 12.

The "Brothers of the Sun" will also feature special guests Grace Potter & The Nocturnals and Jake Owen.

"Kenny and I have been friends in Nashville for more than 20 years now," McGraw said before the opening show.  "This is something that Kenny and I have talked about for a long time now.

"Our friendship was forged on the road, so it’s going to be a blast heading out with Kenny again."

Chesney recently released singles off of his "Welcome to the Fishbowl" album, and echoed his friend's excitement.

"I can't wait to get back on the road with Tim," Chesney said. "He's one of my closest friends in music and in life and I know this tour is going to be something special."

Chesney led the Academy of Country Music Awards with nine nominations including Entertainer of the Year, Album of the Year ("Hemingway's Whiskey") and Male Vocalist of the Year. He was also nominated for Song of the Year for "You and Tequila" with Grace Potter.

McGraw is a three-time Grammy Award winner who has had a No. 1 single in each of the last three decades – 32 in total – including the title track of his most recent album, "Southern Voice."

Tickets for the "Brothers Of the Sun" tour are on sale now! Fans can buy tickets at www.ticketmaster.com or call (301) 276-6711.

McGraw is also an accomplished actor, having starred in films such as the Oscar-nominated blockbuster "The Blind Side" and the critically acclaimed "Friday Night Lights."
