Alfred Morris 'Happy' With Top-100 Rank

Posted May 17, 2013

Redskins RB Alfred Morris was revealed as No. 64 on the 'The Top 100 Players of 2013' list, as voted on by his peers. Hear his thoughts on the honor.

Last night on the NFL Network, Redskins running back Alfred Morris was named the 64th best player in the NFL this season in a poll voted on by his peers.

This is a tremendous honor for the former sixth-round pick, who rushed for a franchise-record 1,613 yards in his rookie season.

His rushing totals finished first among rookies and second in the NFL in yards, trailing only All-Pro running back Adrian Peterson.

Despite his instantaneous success, Morris was snubbed in Pro Bowl voting and arguably could have been listed higher on the top-100 list. This fact, however, did not detract from the honor for Morris.

“I’m happy with that," he told the NFL Network. "For my peers to rank me at all in the top-100 in such a talented league, it’s a great feeling just to be ranked."

Understanding that it is difficult for rookies--particularly sixth-round picks--to get national attention, Morris said he is not insulted by ranking.

"Like I said there is a lot of talent around, there are a lot of guys that could have been on this list who are not," Morris said. "But just me being a rookie being able to come in and have my peers in the NFL to even rank me is an honor in itself."

With his No. 64 ranking, he is already listed ahead of fellow rookie running back Trent Richardson (No. 71), and joins linebacker Luke Kuechly as the third 2012 rookie named.

Even at No. 64, Morris is still considered to be in the top three percent of all NFL players. This is an impressive distinction for any NFL player.
